Researching Medical Education will introduce a breadth of theories, research designs and methodologies relevant to medical education, and illustrate the application of these within international health professions education settings. By linking theory and design and methods within the health profession education research context, this book supports the improvement of quality, capacity building and knowledge generation within health professions education. Given this focus, the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) and Association for Medical Education Europe (AMEE) will be endorsing this book. To achieve these objectives, the contributing authors are a blend of clinicians and non-clinical researchers in health professions education, representing a range of disciplines and backgrounds. Their contributions provide a blueprint of how to pose and address health professions education research questions, illustrated by examples and descriptors - from the simple to the aspirational. Many examples are to illustrate how medical education and related research is currently progressing knowledge in the field. International examples ensure that the messages in this text are relevant to all medical educators even though the structures, systems and processes of healthcare delivery and education vary across countries.
