DESCRIZIONE

In recent years complex endovascular aortic repair, with incorporation of aortic side branches through fenestrations (FEVAR) or directional branches (BEVAR), has rapidly evolved, demonstrating excellent early and mid-term results.
A key component of the F-BEVAR implant is represented by the bridging stent, that ensures the connection between the main aortic endograft and the target vessels.
Although FEVAR and BEVAR are largely adopted endovascular techniques worldwide, the methods for target vessel bridging still exhibit significant variability, and different materials are currently used as a bridging stent. Furthermore, target vessel instability is one of the main drawbacks of FEVAR and BEVAR, owing to endoleaks and occlusions often linked to the bridging stent.
The purpose of this book is to provide an updated review of the techniques for target vessel bridging, bridging stent technical assessment, and the factors influencing target vessel instability. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive review of the evidence supporting the use of various stent types commonly employed as bridging stents.
Our goal is to guide physicians in making informed decisions about the most appropriate technique and stent to use as a bridging stent in FEVAR and BEVAR procedures.
